Web marketing boosts advertising sector results
Internet advertising is continuing to boost the web marketing sector, it has emerged.
According to a survey from the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, the advertising economy grew by 41.4 per cent due to online marketing.
Internet advertising now has a 14.7 per cent share in the sector.
Chief executive of the IAB Guy Phillipson comments that advertisers could benefit from the increased number of users surfing the net.
"We’re also seeing women and the over 50s spending far more time online, which makes the internet a very attractive medium to a broader set of advertisers," he remarks.
Manager of entertainment and media practice PricewaterhouseCoopers Nicki Lynas adds that the figures indicate that companies are showing no signs of levelling out their spending on the medium.
Another study by the IAB found TV, the web and print are effective in driving brand engagement, with online ads combined with a TV campaign seen as particularly successful.
