Email marketing 'retains customers'
Email marketing is though by many companies to help retain customers, a new survey suggests.
The State of Online Retailing is a report by Shop.org and Forrester Research, showing that three-quarters of firms use emails to contact their customers with new product news, DM News notes.
It was also found that 80 per cent of online retailers have been attempting to improve their e-commerce offering by adding more pictures of products displayed on the web.
Furthermore, 63 per cent of e-commerce businesses are drawing on social media tools such as videos and peer reviews to help enhance the consumer internet shopping experience.
According to the results of the report, e-commerce on the whole has increased by a quarter from 2005 to 2006.
A study conducted by Fizzback has discovered that men, on average, will give shopping experiences 22 per cent more positive feedback, with women seemingly being harder to please while shopping.
